Paulo Bruscky
The artist Paulo Bruscky (b. 1949) lives in the city of Recife in northeastern Brazil. As an exponent of mail art, Bruscky has fostered international exchanges for many years. Nevertheless his work is often made in response to everyday life and local contexts. He has a sharp eye for found situations, which fluctuate between sense and nonsense. The series Amsterdam Erotica is a study of what he saw as the omnipresent, phallic character of the Dutch capital. The sexual energy produces an absurd organism, a union of the city and the artist’s body.
